Astrology really predates both astronomy and psychology even though the terms astrology and astronomy have for ages been interchangeable with each other. The earliest known astrological records could be tracked to Babylon as far back as 1645 BC. But, the history of astrology does not follow one specific timeline, but instead three independent divisions we refer to Indian as Western astrology or Jyotish astrology and Chinese or East Asian astrology.

Babylonians believed the Gods were responsible for all atmospheric phenomena, like sun and rain. Egypt has a crucial place in astrological history.
